POLAND'S FESTIVALS
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Christmas is a festive holiday in Poland. Many customs, ceremonies and beliefs revolve around Chrismas Eve which is a very special day in Polish homes. The Polish would decorate their homes with beautiful decorations and they would also have a Chrismas tree. We, Singaporeans also do the same except that most of the time, the Polish decorations are much nicer than the local ones here.

Polish are known to set additional table settings for anyone who decides to pop by the meal or and empty plate in reminder of those who have passed away. Preparation has to be completed before dusk.

Christmas Eve was believed to affect the entire New Year. Fot this reason, it had to be spent in harmony and peace, with everyone showing the utmost kindness to one another.

The Christmas dinner only consists of meatless dishes. Traditionally, there should be 12 courses to reflect the number of months in a year or Jesus's apostles.
